Pine Tree Legal Assistance — Military Services / Veterans Unit
Maine's largest nonprofit provider of civil legal aid, including for veterans, providing civil legal representation through both a homelessness-focused project with Preble Street and a health-focused medical-legal partnership with VA Maine Healthcare System (Togus). Through its Togus Medical-Legal Partnership it helps veterans with veteran-specific issues like discharge upgrades as well as housing stability and benefits, and co-runs the Veterans Legal Services Initiative (including a Wills for Heroes estate-planning project) with the Maine State Bar Association.
